Work Scope

Legwell Port:

Team Composition: A dedicated three-man applications team.
Duration: 14 days.
Area Covered: 360 m².
Tasks Performed: The team executed comprehensive maintenance, including degreasing, mechanical preparation, and applying protective coatings to ensure the longevity and structural integrity of the port-side legwell.

Forward:

Team Composition: A three-man applications team.
Duration: 14 days.
Area Covered: 360 m².
Tasks Performed: The team performed a similar scope of work as in the Legwell Port, focusing on the forward section of the rig. This included degreasing, mechanical preparation, strip coating, intermediate coating, and top coating to protect against the harsh marine environment.

Starboard:

Team Composition: A three-man applications team.
Duration: 14 days.
Area Covered: 360 m².
Tasks Performed: The starboard side received identical treatment to ensure uniform protection across all sides of the rig. The team meticulously applied each coat, ensuring maximum adherence and durability.

Hull:

Team Composition: A larger team for this extensive area.
Duration: 57 days.
Area Covered: 1832 m².
Tasks Performed: The hull of the Ensco 109 was subjected to a detailed and labor-intensive renovation. The process involved:

  • Degreasing: Removing any oil, grease, and contaminants.
  • Mechanical Preparation: Surface preparation to ensure optimal adhesion of protective layers.
  • Strip Coat: Applying the initial layer of coating to protect the hull.
  • Intermediate Coat: Adding a secondary layer for enhanced protection.
  • Top Coat: Final application to provide a durable, long-lasting finish that can withstand the rigours of offshore conditions.

Fabrication Work:

Scope: The project also included essential fabrication work to replace and reinforce structural components. This fabrication was critical to maintaining the rig’s overall integrity and ensuring it could continue to operate safely in deepwater environments.

Execution: The fabrication tasks were carried out with precision, utilizing high-quality materials and adhering to rigorous safety standards.
